We’ve been doing a nightly play through of Lufia & The Fortress of Doom for Super Nintendo, and we’re using the original copy I bought in 1995. I was a High School senior, and I bought the game on a whim for $20 from Best Buy. Usually I can’t stand RPGs, and to date I’ve only completed two of them: Lufia and the original Dragon Warrior on the NES. Lufia though is a superior game however because of an interesting story, great music, and uncomplicated controls. Grinding sucks, but it looks as though I originally beat the game in 30 hours. But we’re going to do a play through from start to finish. We’ll post episodes here, or you can watch us live on Twitch on most nights around 7:30-8:00pm pacific here: Playchoice 3 on Twitch
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 1:
The opening of the game and when Monsters Attack! (Note: the sound is very low, we’ve corrected it in part 3 forward)
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 2:
Lufia joins your party, you rescue a king and a random girl: (Note: the sound is very low, we’ve corrected it in part 3 forward)
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 3:
We meet up with Guy, then look for a ship only to encounter disaster!
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 4:
It took two tries on this play through, and 3 tries total to defeat the goblins and get the ship, then we encounter a pick pocket!
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 5:
After sailing south we retrieve various treasures from a cave, then look for information in a tower about an elf.
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 6:
When a “Hope Ruby” is determined as the only thing that will save a sick girl the crew attempts to borrow it only to find out it was stolen by the girl’s brother.
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Part 7:
Access to a cave is not as easy as it should be as a failed dialog event makes a key inaccessible. In a sense this is an hour of grinding.
